Around 50 vehicles have been marked with what seems to be human bodily fluid in the German municipality of Hanau near Frankfurt, according to law enforcement.
Automobiles, walls and mailboxes were marked, sometimes with swastikas, they stated in a official communication.
Officers state they were contacted in the late hours on Wednesday night, when a man observed that a automobile in the Lamboy neighborhood of Hanau had been smeared with a reddish-hued fluid.
The liquid had been placed in the shape of a banned symbol, they reported.
Officers then discovered multiple other marked automobiles and house walls in the nearby vicinity.
Nazi symbols are illegal in Germany under laws outlawing the public exhibition of Nazi-era symbols.
Police report initial examinations suggest the fluid was probably human bodily fluid.
"Currently there is no indication as to where it came from; investigators are presently not cognizant of any harm in relation with the incident," they added.
City officials announced they were attempting "to solve the incident" and have requested to the community for information.
A senior representative stated the incident rendered him speechless and needed to be solved promptly.
"This incident hits the core of Hanau and revives the pain of the right-wing violent incident half a decade ago," he wrote on online, recalling the death of nine individuals by a gunman targeting people of foreign heritage in five years prior.
