Fall Classic Game 7 Draws 51M Audience Members Across the US, Canada and Japan Regions.

The nail-biting extended contest that saw the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Toronto Blue Jays by one run averaged a total over 50 million watchers across the United States, Canada, and Japanese territories. MLB announced this is the highest-rated World Series finale after the 1991 showdown between the Twins and Atlanta Braves.

Television Ratings Breakdown

The Saturday epic contest drew over 27 million viewers on Fox Sports networks, its Spanish-language channel and their digital services. According to ratings data, it was the second highest-rated program of the week.

It additionally stands as the most-watched World Series matchup since the 2017 edition final game between the Los Angeles Dodgers and Houston Astros, which averaged over 29 million. This represents a sixteen percent improvement over the last Game 7 between the Nationals and Astros, which attracted 23.19M.

In the weekly rankings, the sixth game ranked 4th, the fourth game ranked 7th, Game 5 came in eighth, and the third game landed in thirteenth place.

Global Viewership Figures

In the Canadian market, the game averaged 11.6 million viewers on Sportsnet and the French TVA Sports channel. This was the highest-rated English-language program in Canada since the 2010 Vancouver Winter Olympics.

In the Japanese market, where the deciding contest started at 9 PM in the local time zone, it averaged 12M. This came after last Friday’s sixth game – in which Fall Classic Most Valuable Player Yamamoto allowed one run in six innings – drew 13.1 million viewers, making it the highest-rated Fall Classic game on a sole broadcaster in the country.

Series Averages and Patterns

The full seven-game World Series drew 15.71 million viewers on the Fox network, a 2% rise from last year’s Dodgers versus Yankees series. This represents the initial instance since 2015 and 2016 that the Fall Classic has seen viewership growth for two consecutive seasons.

Counting the opening game telecast on the Univision network, the complete US average reached over 16 million. The total World Series average in Japan was 9.7 million and 8.1 million in the Canadian market.

The complete playoffs on Fox and its sister channels drew 8.09M viewers, an eight percent rise over the previous year and Fox’s best postseason performance since the 2017 season.

Major League Baseball announced that the World Series was broadcast in over 200 nations and regions by forty-four broadcasting partners in sixteen different languages.
