The highly-awaited Season 2 of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform soon, and audience theories has been intense.
Season 1 introduces a diverse group of characters living within the afterlife, sets them at odds with musical numbers detailing their conflicts, and builds tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that fuel audience devotion.
The community's expectations for season 2 differ greatly, but certain themes recur frequently: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining Alastor the Radio Demon? Will [favorite character] and [other character] finally get together?
"Naturally, I don't produce the show with audience demands specifically in mind," the showrunner stated recently. "But I believe that me being a devotee of the series implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I want some of these things to occur, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her long-term vision is for five seasons of Hazbin Hotel. Seasons 3 and 4 have already been green-lit by Prime Video and A24, which finance the series.
That could imply fans have to be patient for some of the biggest payoffs — but they could be shocked at how fast the new season moves, and how many of what they're waiting for happens this season.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," she adds. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some incredible reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even basic elements, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] We're going to hear additional musical numbers from the previously silent cast members."
The creator is well-informed of the theories and desires about season 2 — particularly in the format of fan bingo cards.
"I've come across a few fans make a bingo card about season 2," she says. "Obviously I won't share it, but I've actually done a few items, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we accomplish much [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season premieres on the streaming service on October 29.
